In November, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT (Aachen) and the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine IUF (Düsseldorf) were admitted as new members.

We are glad to announce that two further institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia became members of the Stem Cell Network NRW. At its meeting on 22.11.2019, the Representatives' Meeting of the Stem Cell Network NRW decided positively on two membership applications: One is the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen, where technologies for the production of stem cells are being researched, the other is the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine IUF in Düsseldorf, which, for instance, develops stem cell-based toxicological test methods. 21 universities and research institutions are now members of the Stem Cell Network NRW.

Membership in the Stem Cell Network NRW is open to scientific, university and non-university institutions with legal capacity that work in the field of academic and applied stem cell research and are based in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition to biomedical research, stem cell research also includes accompanying research in the humanities and social sciences, especially in the fields of ethics, law, and social aspects (“ELSA”).
