International Meeting

Since 2002, the Stem Cell Network North Rhine-Westphalia organizes its ‘International Meeting’ every two years. With regularly more than 600 participants, this is one of the largest congresses in this field of research in Europe. Thanks to the support of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, it was always possible to invite leading stem cell researchers from all over the world. We are very pleased that personalities such as Nobel laureate John Gurdon, Rudolf Jaenisch, Fred Gage and Kenneth Chien have already lectured at our International Meeting in North Rhine-Westphalia. Moreover, ethical, legal and social science topics are regularly discussed at the International Meeting and linked to current biomedical issues.

During poster sessions, junior scientists have the possibility to present their work and discuss with experts. The increased involvement of industry promotes the transition of research from the lab into clinical application. Panel discussions, satellite symposia and meet-the-expert events complete the program. For a better reconciliation of work and family, free childcare will be offered during the International Meeting.

Usually, the venue place is shifting between the different locations of the Stem Cell Network NRW. Following a virtual conference in 2021, the 11th International Meeting on May 16-17, 2023 brought stem cell researchers from around the world together in Aachen.
