Investigation of effects of specific metabolic and mechanic stimuli induced by physical activity and exercise for stem and progenitor cell activation and the dependent tissue regeneration.  The experimental approachs are broad from in vitro cell culture, animal studies up to human intervention studies. Major focus is given to vascular, myogenic and neuronal stem and progenitor cells. It is investigated how mechanotransduction and metabolic stimuli stem cell from and in different tissues and organs are regulated after short and long time stimuli induced by change of physical activity and exercise.
