In cooperation with the chemist Prof. Pich (Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials, RWTH Aachen), the interdisciplinary 3-year project addresses the development of functional fibrin-based hydrogels, which will allow for a better control of stem cells that are in contact with an implant. This approach will enable the development of patient-specific, biohybrid cardiovascular implants with an optimal long-term function. The subproject belongs to a so called ‘PAK-Antrag’ focusing on “Towards Model-based Control of Biohybrid Implant Maturation”, which is coordinated by Prof. Schmitz-Rode (Helmholtz-Institute for Biomedical Engineering, RWTH Aachen University). Project start is October 2018.
We are looking forward to the first results!
