Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) exert regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects. Recent research led to the assumption, that these therapeutic effects are accomplished by “extracellular vesicles” (EV) secreted by MSCs. The SG “Immunological factors and Stem cell-based therapies of GvHD” analyzes a variety of factors (e.g. HLA-G, HLA-E, NKG2C), which can either have a pro- or anti-inflammatory influence on the onset of GvHD and aims to optimize the production of MSC-derived EVs in order to offer more efficient treatment options for patients suffering from severe GvHD.
