The Department of Biohybrids & Medical Textiles (BioTex), focuses on the development of viable biohybrid implants with the potential for remodelling, regeneration and self-repair. BioTex wants to make a significant contribution to progress in (regenerative) medicine.

We follow the mission to develop bioengineering solutions for clinical needs by combining functional materials and biological components towards biohybrid systems. Therefore, we have set up the institute along the value chain from material development and processing to biohybrid implant development and biofunctionalization and into (pre)clinical testing.

The BioTex institute is in a strong collaboration with the Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials (AMIBM)(Director: Prof. Jockenhoevel) and the DWI Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials.
