A workshop for participants from clinical research and basic research provided insights into the regulatory processes for translational work as well as the extensive requirements for conducting a clinical trial.

The Translation Workshop took place on December 7 in Düsseldorf and is intended to be the start of a regular series of events. Almost 20 participants discussed with the speakers Dr. Jochheim-Richter (Cellmanufactur) and PD Dr. Sorg (University Hospital Düsseldorf) the basics of regulatory processes that are relevant in long-term translational processes. This topic also includes the extensive requirements for the conduct of a clinical trial.

The participants subsequently identified existing gaps that will be addressed in the next workshops. In addition to further training in terms of content, cooperation with companies is also to be expanded more intensively in the future, e.g. in order to explore scope for joint funding opportunities.

The next workshop will take place on May 15, 2023, before the International Meeting in Aachen. The focus here will be on the ethical and legal content of a declaration of consent, which is an important prerequisite for the use of the subsequent cells.
