The aim of the workshop "Stem Cells Meet Clinical Trials" is to promote the exchange between researchers and clinicians and to bring them into contact with clinical trial centers at an early stage. In addition, affected patients and other relevant stakeholders are to be included in the dialogue and the prospective planning of clinical trials. This exchange is intended to increase the quality of clinical studies and systematic reviews.
A specific incentive for collaboration is provided by the BMBF call for proposals "Guideline for the funding of clinical trials with high relevance for patient care" (in German), which, in addition to confirmatory and exploratory studies, also offers funding for concept development phases in which patient representatives and other users should be actively involved.
The workshop program includes additional information on the current BMBF call for proposals, a “lessons learned” report from a former grantee, insights into centers for clinical trials, and break-out sessions for further networking (split into different topic areas).
