Within the next 12 months, three major stem cell events will be held in Germany, including the ISSCR Annual Meeting in Hamburg. Renowned personalities from the stem cell field and related sciences are expected.

International Meeting

Already in a few months, the 8th Annual GSCN Conference of the German Stem Cell Network will take place in Ulm. From September 23-25, 2020, up to 400 participants are expected to attend a comprehensive program with many scientific lectures, poster sessions, a networking event and much more. Currently the conference is planned as a face-to-face event. Registration at the reduced rate is possible until July 3rd.

In March 2021 the Stem Cell Network NRW will finally be able to carry out its anniversary conference: The 10th International Meeting will take place in Aachen on March 29 and 30, 2021. Originally, the conference was planned for the beginning of June 2020, but had to be postponed due to the current situation.
Over two days, 16 invited speakers will present their latest findings from different research areas, e.g. disease modeling, epigenetics & single cell genomics, organoids or biomaterials. We are happy to announce that twelve speakers have already confirmed their participation:

  • Roger Barker, University of Cambridge
  • Massimo Dominici, Unimore the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia
  • Elaine Dzierzak, University of Edinburgh
  • Ivan Martin, University of Basel
  • Alexander Medvinsky, University of Edinburgh
  • Christine Mummery, Leiden University
  • Wolf Reik, Cambridge University
  • Nicolas Rivron, IMBA Vienna
  • Henk Stunnenberg, Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology, Utrecht
  • Carsten Werner, TU Dresden
  • Marius Wernig, Stanford University
  • Michael Ziller, Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Munich

In addition, talks from junior investigators will be selected by submitted abstracts. Traditionally, there will be a large poster session on the evening of the first conference day (March 29th), followed by a networking event in the Aula Carolina, located in the historic center of Aachen.
On both conference days, an industry exhibition, Meet-the-Speaker tables as well as free childcare to help reconcile work and family will be offered directly at the Eurogress conference venue. Further information on registration will be provided via this newsletter and on our website.

In June 2021, the renowned Annual Meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) will take place in Germany for the first time! This is planned for June 23-26, 2021 at the Congress Center Hamburg. High-ranking speakers and approximately 4000 participants from all over the world are expected at the world's largest conference for stem cell researchers. Since this year's ISSCR Annual Meeting could not take place as planned in Boston, but was carried out as a virtual conference, we hope that a regular conference will be possible next year.
