During the 23rd Surgical Research Days Lucas-Sebastian Spitzhorn was awarded the Hans-Jürgen-Bretschneider-Prize for his contribution "Human fetal foreskin fibroblast-derived iMSCs support regeneration of a critical size bone defect in mini-pigs", which was endowed with 1000€.

The research days taking place in Aachen focused on the intersection between preclinical research and clinical medicine and emphasized in this context the important role of current innovative research approaches for modern and progressive surgery in the future.
