On December 02, 2022, a symposium on ethical, legal and social issues in the field of stem cell research will take place from 9:00-18:00 at the Haus der Universität Düsseldorf. The event is aimed at young researchers from the fields of philosophy, social sciences and law (ELSA - Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects), but will also include experts from the life sciences. Participation in the symposium is free of charge. As the number of available places is limited, prior registration by mail to info[at]stammzellen.nrw.de is requested. The event will be held in German.
This symposium marks the start of a regular series of events organized by the Stem Cell Network NRW, which will enable young researchers from the ELSA sciences to engage in an interdisciplinary exchange and provide impetus for further research projects in the field of stem cell research and related aspects such as genome editing, the production of artificial gametes, chimera generation and other related topics. Because the research and application of stem cells is subject to different regulatory limits and because new technologies and changed social acceptance structures create diverse conditions for basic research and application (in humans), accompanying research in this field must be interdisciplinary and critically reflective.
We are looking for contributions from young researchers in philosophy, law and the social sciences. Please send your abstract (in tGerman) as a PDF file to the event organizers Alina Omerbasic-Schiliro (Omerbasi[at]hhu.de) and Vasilija Rolfes (Vasilija.Rolfes[at]uni-duesseldorf.de) by 11/11/2022. Submitted abstracts should not exceed 250 words.
