12th Internal Meeting

At the end of November, 170 scientists from the Stem Cell Network NRW gathered at the Gustav Stresemann Institute in Bonn for the 12th Internal Meeting.

The conference is an integral part of the Stem Cell Network NRW and offers an ideal platform for young scientists to present and discuss their results in front of a large audience. This year, not only the speakers, but also the session chairs were young scientists, who performed this function very professionally and asked many specific questions about the individual talks.

A total of 170 participants took part in the 12th Internal Meeting of the Stem Cell Network NRW on November 22 and 23, 2019. On these two days, young scientists presented their latest research results in a total of 27 lectures, each followed by lively discussions. The speakers' contributions covered a broad spectrum of stem cell research, ranging from biomaterials and patient-specific iPS cells to regulatory options in the Stem Cell Act. This thematic diversity highlighted the breadth of the stem cell expertise present in North Rhine-Westphalia. In total, scientists from 18 institutions in NRW participated.

The lively exchange between the scientists continued during the coffee breaks and new project ideas were born. On Friday night, an entertaining "pub quiz" took place, during which the scientists – divided into several groups – had to answer various questions related to everyday laboratory life. Immediately after the conference, a workshop on "Introduction into IP for stem cell researchers" offered an opportunity to learn about options for patenting research results.
