Continuing education for biology teachers

The Stem Cell Network.NRW offers further training events for biology teachers tailored to the stem cell subject area. In this way, biology teachers are given the opportunity to keep their knowledge of this complex biomedical field up to date and to impart the most relevant skills possible to their students in the classroom.

The stem cell topic is biologically challenging because of the multitude of other areas it links to: first, results of stem cell research affect almost all biomedical specialties that deal specifically with human organs; second, the enormously dynamic development of the field ensures a short half-life of current research results; and third, some research fields touch on socially relevant ethical problem areas, such as questions about the status of embryos, the cloning issue, and genetic engineering interventions.
