Master Program on Stem Cell Biology

A specialized master program Molecular and Developmental Stem Cell Biology has been established at Ruhr University Bochum in perspective of educating and training specialized scientists with backgrounds in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, who will find their places in basic research, medical research institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. The international four semesters course program ‘iSTEM’ towards a Master of Science includes lectures and courses on Stem Cell Physiology, Molecular Genetic Methods, Tissue Engineering, Pathology of Degenerative Diseases and Advances in Stem Cell Research.

Besides many lecturers from Ruhr University Bochum and the University Hospitals in  Bochum (Coordination Prof. Beate Brand-Saberi, PD Holm Zaehres)  the program has integrated guest lectures from different NRW stem cell research institutions e.g. University Bielefeld (Prof. Barbara Kaltschmidt), University Clinic Essen (Prof. Peter Horn, Prof. Bernd Giebel , PD Hannes Klump), Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf (Prof. James Adjaye, Prof. Gesine Kögler) and University Witten-Herdecke (Prof. Thomas Dittmar).

This program can also be studied as a double degree program in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine together with Jinan University, Guangzhou, China.
