_Lead up to zellux.net – the School Portal for Stem Cell Research
The topic portal ‘zellux.net’ will be activated officially on October 24th, 2008 at 3.30 pm at the North Rhine Westphalian Academy of Sciences in Düsseldorf. The project was coordinated by Tobias Cantz from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, set up in cooperation with the Center for Bioethics, the Center for Biodidactics, the Transplantation Medicine Department at the University of Münster and the Institute for Church and Society in the Evangelical Church of Westphalia and tested in schools. This resulted in teaching materials for teachers and senior grade students that can be used in many situations.
Numerous topic texts, graphics and videos illuminate the various aspects of stem cell research and were processed for the internet portal by the Albrecht Agency in Bochum.
Zellux.net is a unique and modern resource for substantiated background knowledge on stem cell research both for interdisciplinary teaching and the public. The project was financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, specifically to integrate young people in the discourse process in modern science and to thus promote their discussion competence in a targeted manner.
From 3.30 pm onwards the project partners will explain the individual aspects of the internet portal. The formal opening will take place at 5 pm. After this there will be an opportunity to navigate through the portal on site.
